Then the question becomes, how big is big enough? Obviously if 0.001% of new purchasers were converts, that would be bad. But how high does the percentage have to be for us to say "apple owners are not leaving the camp in droves?" I really don't know, which is why I'm not interested in those numbers - at least as they currently stand. Now if the numbers were to double over several months and stay doubled, I might be interested.
Also note (this is just a curious observation) if 100% of apple purchasers were converts, that would be a very bad number. It would indicate that no one who has an apple wants another one (or, I grant you, that apple owners are so content with what they have - i.e., the computers still work & are sufficiently powerful - that they don't need a new one).
I'm looking for a) increased yearly market share b) increased profits c)performance in newly created or newly entered markets (e.g., digital hub, iPod, digital cameras etc).
