Seach, The Israelis were calling for Arafat's ouster long before Bush jumped on board. I suspect the real reasons for it are: 1. To pressure Arafat. He has been much better behaved recently with a gun pointed at his head. Last week he admitted that he should have accepted the Israeli offer from 2 years ago. 2. To give Arafat political cover. He can't be perceived as an Israeli lackey, and is certainly a more reasonable person than the Hamas psychos who are next in the opinion polls.
