The theme is growth stocks and stay away from mega caps. Market fading but I expect a lot of vol near term... does the VIX go to 50 or 60? who knows.. the near-term is going to whip around...

However, my time horizon is long and the companies I speak with are not imploding...

let's look at the new more macro data points:

GE says things are ok
DELL says things are ok (but taking share so...)
ISI (econ forecasters) has been saying the economic data would hit a soft spot (it has) and then it re-accelerates in August (hopefully it will)
Consumer sentiment is not good but the poll was taken right after WCOM fraud and the market's sharp drop (tough to time the market with a survey that reacts TO the market).

Fundamentals are light but there is some stability. You can't really call for a big accerlation but the panic right now will recede in the near term as a VIX over 40 doesn't tend to stay there very long... We will see... Another shoe could drop... Stay diversified and don't use margin. I am still underweight equities with my strategic asset allocation but I am a buyer here for at least a trade... Buy some aggressive growth mutual funds at the close today or Monday for diversification and some beta exposure... (obviously no-load's only)...
