Washington, D.C. area explosion: WASHINGTON -- A vehicle -- possibly a van -- exploded in a parking lot in the Friendship Heights area of the District just after 2 p.m. Friday. It happened in a garage near the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Jennifer Street in northwest. The D.C. fire department confirms the vehicle exploded as the driver got in. The victim has been taken to the Washington Hospital Center. A two-square-block area around the explosion has been sealed off to traffic. nbc4.com
