He was just a project manager for the Pentium. It was he who led the team that took the Pentium technology from Development to Production. He did not leave. He was asked to leave (not fired) since he got to exercise all his stock options etc. What I hear is that he ruled with a very iron hand. And when the Penium bug came into focus, all his enemies went against him. Hw left and formed his own company called Silicon Spice which he then sold to Broadcom for a good sum.
