oops Ford lays off 350,000 workers (coming soon)
in April2002, I said Ford would go bankrupt within 18 months
the car giveaways are great for keeping people on the job
great for pumping out the cars
but not for producing profits
not for servicing the debts

and Ford's debt is in the neighborhood of 4x mktcap
much of Ford's scarce earnings must go to service debt
zero percent financing doesnt get the job done
