I really have had no problem when I have demanded a hand inspection I've had problems, especially in the recent past, mainly in Europe. Flying out of Amsterdam this late spring for example. I was polite but insisted on hand inspection over and over. The situation culminated in me getting shoved by the security agent, which resulted in the film I was holding spilling from my hands all over the floor. The security agent must have realized he went overboard. After I picked up my film cans he simply let me pass. I just might get that pouch, even though its weight will be an inconvenience, because I suspect one of these days I'll lose the hand inspection argument, and a boatlaod of my exposed film will be ruined.
