Having experienced the thrill of owning several stocks over the years that did the reverse split trick, all I can say is the typical investor gets screwed.

Before the rs you're already screwed.

After the split you're more screwed.

Later when they do it again you are even more screwed.

In the quote of having $289 in payroll and only $31 in cash, that to me looks like a problem.
