Well.... I just wired my cash out of MSDW and sent it to datek today. I've been pretty happy with datek, but I don't depend on any research. I know there have been some complaints about Datek's Answerbox feature, but I've had no real trouble with it and if I wanted an answer on something, I'd just call them. I have had to ask them to update one of my accounts buying power manually on a few occasions (must be some kind of software bug since it only happens on my second account), but they've always been very prompt in fixing it (unlike MSDW who would say the site was never accurate and so it shouldn't be depended on..... like it's my fault for taking their word for something and refused to ever manually update it.... "you need to call us and ask what the actual figures are. WHAT??????).

I have an account at Brown that I've been happy with as well (JP Morgan owns Brown), but I prefer Datek because their fills are faster and it's easy to trade in AH/Premarket which I only occasionally do, but it's nice to have.

I have an etrade account, but out of the three it's my least fave due to their fees.

MSDW I hated and they are selling their online accounts to Harris Direct.

Had an account at TD Waterhouse but their site was way too slow (and so I transferred it to Brown).

Have some mutual funds at Merrill Lynch and Fidelity (iras) although I don't know why, cuz I don't get any real benefit from their research. I've just had them for a long time.

Never tried Scottrade.
