imo many of the calls were bought (and flipped) by bears. in an ironic twist it seems that bears are outperforming bulls even on the "rallies".

Yes, but i have to back Psys data, i have seen 2 sources, AAII and Market Vane give a similar number.
By the way my green arrow on my VIX chart yesterday i am now removing and my notation added today also applies to Psys sentiment indicators as in real mean times the bullish % can drop as low as to 10% before a bottom can be in.
