I'm not going to comment on Intel's yields because I too know what they are. I will remind this thread that Intel recently claimed to have "World Class Yields". If that is true then how can a uninformed Droid estimate the number of good die per wafer for a CPU such as NorthWood? Easy! I have repeatedly provided a link to a publicly available yield estimator and Yousef has provided what he and I both agree (and I'm sure you would agree also) is a Defect Density number that would be "World Class" based on industry standards, .25/cm2. The Droids can easily plug in the die size and calculate Intel's minimum yields if they wanted to. Note, I am not confirming Intel's claims about yield, only saying that IF they are true then the minimum yields are easily determined.
