NT got 2 large deals in May/June, China Unicom and Verizon. Ciena got Telmex and Sprint. Juniper got some deals too but I don't follow them too closely. I knew Ciena had Sprint but Telmex caught me completely by surprise.

Anyway once upon a time even one deal like this would cause these stocks to pop 5 pts. Of course now the dollar amts a probably much smaller than the past.

I've been watching the comm equipment sector for a turnaround and it seems to me the first evidence was the Jabil last qtr results combined with the jnpr insider 30mm$ buy in May. Since then, the stocks have rallied 25-30% in this terrible mkt climate.

How much of the blowout qurterly results in 99/00 were due directly or indirectly to the IP buildout? A bunch I think, trickling down to the chip makers. If these networking stocks can stabilize and climb from here then the only lagging sector will be software. Some software plays like i2 will benefit directly from a recovery in networking too.
