Other than irritate partisan defenders of the President and possibly erode his political support, I don't see the point. What do you think we ought to do about this, if true? Impeach him? Throw him in jail? Seize his assets? Should we revive the Special Prosecutor law and go on a $200,000,000 fishing expedition? Why don't we enact a law that states this and future Presidents of United States must waive all rights under the Constitution so their political opponents can have a field day in the press? Let's make it retroactive and apply it to Clinton so everyone can have a bit of fun.

More than anything else, it smells of a partisan witch hunt designed to divert public attention from the fact that the Democratic Party controlled the Executive branch of government during the unsustainable economic bubble and failed to exercise even minimal oversight of corporate excesses during that period. We are paying the price for that collossal failure now.

The responsible agency of the United States government investigated this matter and took no action. I am surprised that there is anyone left who is naive enough to believe that, had this been dropped for political reasons in 1991 or 1992, it would not have been revived for political reasons in 1993.

I'll be gone for a couple of weeks, but I am sure that this phony issue won't be, while the real issues confronting the country will receive little, if any, serious consideration. I hope everyone enjoys the feeding frenzy. Our nation deserves better, given the perilous times in which we live.
