The Arabs lost territory during their 1948 and 1967 attempts to destroy Israel. Israel is a strong and powerful Democracy, with a free enterprise system that keeps them economically, morally, and militarily strong. In contrast, the Arabs are a repressed feudal society which recently allowed a school full of girls to burn to death in Saudi Arabia, rather than violate some ridiculous Islamic tenet. The Palestinians would be wise to accept the next offer for self rule, as Arafat recently lamented that he should have done for the last one. They are not in a position to quibble over the details. Anyone with half a brain should recognize these distinctions.
