You're absolutely right... and that same fine line is even finer than that... I think mockery would be going too far, but I think testing the limits of absurdity of an idea of someone with whom you disagree is very fair play... this would only allow the poster with the opposing argument to find solid ground for his argument or to realize after all how absurd his argument is in the first place, testing the limits of an argument is a great exercise in logic...
