I see this as a Secular Bear where you can buy the bottom for the gradual ride up.
Case histories vary. The commencement of the secular bear in 1929 ran to 1954 by thedefinition that it did not get back to 1929 highs for 25 years; but if you bought that Secular Bear at bottom in the summer of 1932 you then had a nice gradual ride up.
In the Secular Bear 1966 to 1982, you had to wait 8 years to the bottom point, that came in 1974(but then we had sharp fall in 76 but not to 74 lows.)
For me the bottom point will be resolved by evaluations and Consumer Confidence.
If we fall into the 1929 pattern, one can buy sometime next year on a LTBH basis. But my crystal ball only works on about a 6month time span:).Max
