Charles,

I'm watching closely. Back in early 2000, I posted the following on a Yahoo thread:

I just had a disturbing thought.

Why will Bush have a tough time beating Gore?

Because the economy is so good - no one will want to change the party in residence for fear of screwing it up. Right?

Do you suppose those wiley Texans behind Bush are working with their arabian oil buddies to manufacture a short term dive of the economy by raising and holding oil prices high for a while?

Now there's a conspiratorial thought for you!

Or is the OPEC production holdoff just a coincidence?

Now that we are on the other side of that oil run-up and the California power crisis, I'm even more concerned that I may have been right.

The problem is all that oil/energy folderol hurt the economy; 9/11 exacerbated it; and now corruption seems to be burying it.

Did Clinton do all that?

Disclaimer: I am an independent.

<<Did you ever consider the possibility the Clintons didn't get convicted because there weren't any allegations against them that would hold up?>>

Did you ever consider the possibility the Clintons did not get convicted because they had the head of the DOJ Janet Reno working for them?.

OK, we had some fun, but this is not a political thread.
In any event there are two topics, religion and politics that I try not to discuss unless it is with someone who agrees with me. He He.

OT I figure that most people who've been around know pretty well that neither of our two mainstream parties has anything on the other in terms of graft and corruption.

These things just seem to be the moral risks and temptations of being professional politicians and idiots on both sides have ceded to the temptations of power though the history of our country.

It's up to the public to be vigilant and ensure that it doesn't get totally out of hand is all. That's the price of democracy, to have at least some level of involvement and to be an informed voter.

Marketwise, I'm worried about the next domino to fall in the current climate. Can you imagine if some dirt comes out about Cisco (for example) ?
