The Reps. are seen as the party of the elite I do believe you're correct about this. But it is a result of liberal lies, not of any truthful portrayal. The true "elite" are the Barbara Streisands, hell, the Clintons, the Baldwins, Tom Cruise, the Spielburgs. These are the people who think they are somehow better than the rest of us. The idea the Democrats are the party of the working man is just patently absurd. It is the Democrat party that has, for 30 years, grabbed money from the working class at an unprecendented rate to redistribute as they've seen fit. What a joke? The people/liberals you cite as elitists can hardly be that for a number of reasons.....the most important one being that their fortunes are tied directly to the whims of Americans in general. And this attempt to be a more populist party by acknowledging and employing people of color is seen for what it is. "What it is" is simply the Republicans' core beliefs shining through -- that if African Americans are given an chance to excel they will do it. It is obvious that Bush has put together the best cabinet in modern times. There is little question that Bush selected Rice and Powell based on anything other than sheer capability. YET, this doesn't fit with the Democrats' core belief that Affirmative Action should be employed, and that these two maximally qualified individuals have made it to the top without the benefits of Affirmative Action is killing the Democrats. Handouts, whether it be of money or of jobs, serve only to propagate the need for further handouts. The conservatives know this, the liberals don't. Frankly, employing two people of color does not make a party of equals. The Reps. have a lot to learn in this regard. How can you call it "pitiful" that these two fine Americans have risen to the top based on their on accomplishments? Interestingly, no liberal administration has EVER had African Americans in such prestigious positions, yet this Republican administration has managed it, while finding the best conceivable people for these jobs. It speaks volumes about the competence of the current administration to employee the absolute best persons for every job. It is sad that liberals, in an effort to further their political position, will criticize the president for this. What's pitiful is this rather weak attempt to depict the Rep party as the party of the people. If it were, more of the people would vote for it.......plain and simple. And even in this day of a popular Rep., he can't translate his popularity into coattails. That's your truth........that doesn't necessarily mean its the real truth I don't expect liberals to comprehend the importance of receiving the news from the most unbiased, truthful sources possible. Now, here it is.........your elitism in all its glory. You really believe you are superior intellectually. And that it takes a superior mind to understand a conservative philosophy. Its all so much bs. Unfortunately it's what you all tell yourselves in order to cover up the truth which is that its all about you and your need to satisfy and placate the self. That's why the Reps. so stress the individual and individual rights......so they can wallow in their selfishness without feeling guilty. And in fact try to turn into something superior. Well, many of us do not buy it. Let's face it: Liberalism, Socialism, Communism (closely related concepts) all rely on one thing: Misleading the masses. The masses turn to these isms because they have been screwed under the elitists gov'ts that have mostly ruled this world up until the 20th century. There has been no need to mislead. From time to time the mask of the elitist/Rep. falls so that all see them for what they really are. The elitist's worst enemy is her/himself......Coulter is a case in point....Kudlow another. I am not surprised that you admire them. As long as you have control of the media (CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS) you can stay on target. It is a fact that FOX has created problems for the liberal/socialist movement in this country. Try to let your superior mind get this one.........the media outlets are popular because they represent what the people are thinking. Disgusting, isn't it, oh great one? the rest of us are evolutionary nightmares that need to be expunged I don't want liberals "expunged". I have a great deal of belief in the resilience of people, and even lost causes (you know who you are) can come around. It is not uncommon for people to become more conservative as they mature, as life experiences teach them the failures of liberalism. In the same way, even a purportedly mature adult can suddenly see the light and realize this his/her childish beliefs simply don't apply. Only the shortsighted and the most selfish become more conservative as they mature. The people who believe in the betterment of civilization in general and not that of the individual stay liberal to their death. And the reason is that its the ism that will most benefit mankind. However, your mind isn't big enough to grasp such a concept. How can it be when all you can see is the glory of the individual and not the glory of mankind.
