Hmm... Beats me. I looked around a bit, but couldn't find any explanation.

Does the timing make you just a tiny bit suspicious? Hypothetically, if "someone" were afraid that the market was about to bore a huge, smoking hole in the ground, taking the economy with it, and if that "someone" strongly encouraged MM's to buy up shares in order to lower supply and prop up prices, (in exchange for what exactly, who knows?), wouldn't that "someone" like to have the data suppressed?

Do I smell PPT at work, or am I just becoming a complete and total cynic?
