I have always argued that the Japanese internment was a horrendous blot on our history. German Americans were not treated in that manner- although they were equally "dangerous". The only reason the Japanese Americans were singled out, imo, was that they were identifiable. There were communities of Germans just as close to the coasts as the Japanese, but you couldn't tell who they were by looking at them. It is simply a fact that in crises civil liberties get thrown out the window, because people get irrational. I have great concerns about what may happen to our rights because of 9/11.
