Interesting point. I never thought of it that way. However, I'll stay in the red area. The blue areas are completely out of my desire to visit, politically and otherwise.

One thing you chose to ignore is the blue areas of the map are also responsible for the growth of the economy over the last 10 years. The innovation of technology has also come from the blue areas.
