On the issue of margin requirements - current margin requirements are a huge step up from what they used to be during the last bubble in the late 20s. Back then you could borrow and trade 10x over your equity. Things would have been a lot worse if the same rules have been in effect during this bubble. People lost everything 10x over during the 29 bubble. And I mean EVERYTHING. Including many their lives. Greenspan had nothing to do with the last bubble or this one. GREED GREED GREED is the only one to blame. Greenspan warned us of the irrational exuberance but nobody listened.
