RE:"If Bush and Cheney would just resign, then replacements that didn't have obvious ties to corporate malfeasance could restore confidence to the markets.
All those who expect this to take place, raise your hands....
What? No one expects George and Dick to bow out for the sake of the country?
Don't you think they care more about America then their own perks and status?"

Time to take the blinkers off Dan. Big time stench on both sides of the aisle. I'm sure Duke will jump in and say that they were acting within the law...but who passed the law?

re:"If Bush and Cheney would just resign"

I just took a look at the history of Harken share price. While the stock did move from $4 to $1 shortly after Bush sold, it also moved up to over $160 (pre-split) in the next 12 month even after the restating earnings for previous years. The stock did go down below 5 over the next couple of years, and then it went back up to over $120 again in '97/98. Bush could have made 30 to 40X his money if he hung onto his stock for 12 months... maybe he just wanted to pay of his loan as he stated.

If the flash report showed the $23M loss was coming while public statements from the company still had loses estimated much lower, then there would be an issue. This is a case of old news being recycled.

On the Cheney front, it's too early to tell what's there. Let's wait and see what investigators come up with and get it off the Sunday morning shows.
