Maybe I did misunderstand you.

Has happened.

No, I am not in support of the general tone of John Shannon's posts. I find them often filled with significant content and views which are constructively challenging, but expressed in a style perhaps more suited to Viking society than the one we attempt to maintain here.

Which said, I favor encouragement and direction over banishment and condemnation.

As for Paul Philips, on the whole I have no problem with his mode of expression and find his perception and content good enough to be worth disagreeing. I don't find the most recent posts to fit in this category, however.

Mike...and all...

Having not been a target of an aggressive poster, it's hard for me to relate. I am aware that JS does irritate, and once before, via PM, I did attempt to persuade him to tone it down. For a very long while he did, but I'm not sure that was entirely my doing, he may have simply recognized it on his own.

Publically, I would prefer that no thread changes be made. For the length of time this thread has been working, I have made it my home base. In that time we've seen some splinterings, none of which have come to much, largely because our key posters have remained committed here.

In the present market environment, G&K looks pretty dumb. LTB&H looks really dumb for G&K's. In my view, these conditions are transitory...Moore is still correct...the market will again favor our kinds of stocks.

Regarding the present thread environment, JS needs to do some editing. He should write, defer submitting until he has read it through twice or until he is satisfied no one will be personally affronted. I believe the man is smart enough to do that, and I believe we as a group are smart enough to occasionally grit our teeth and move on.

We ought to focus our energies on where recovery will come first, what valuation levels are appropriate today, and who some of the other G&K candidates are. Our list is not complete. Let's regroup, and do the kind of work for which we are best suited.

Respectfully to all, Chaz
