Before the first suicide bomber ever struck: <<< Armed Israeli civilians within the Green Line rampaged through Arab neighborhoods destroying Arab property and shouting “Death to Arabs.” In Nazareth they tried to burn down the house of Knesset member Azmi Bishara. A shaken Bishara told an interviewer that Israeli police who were quick to use bullets against Palestinian stone throwers failed to restrain the Israelis and instead fired at Arabs trying to defend their homes. Two Arabs were killed. After Palestinians desecrated Joseph’s Tomb in Ramallah, Israelis destroyed an ancient mosque in Tiberius and roamed through Tel Aviv shooting into stores and restaurants. Palestinian human rights workers reported Israeli settlers firing at children as they came out of school and then shooting at the ambulance drivers who came to help them. A Palestinian professor who lives in Ramallah told the Washington Report that he and his wife had had to move out of their bedroom when settlers in a nearby settlement began firing in the direction of their house, and eventually out of their house when the Israeli army bombarded the city. By late October more than 140 Palestinians were dead, 20 of them children under 15, and more than 5,000 were wounded. >>> washington-report.org
