Observing the Dow on a linear scale.............
finance.yahoo.com^DJI&d=c&k=c1&a=v&p=s&t=my&l=off&z=m&q=l
It seems the Dow and business activity has made considerable progress under existng corporate/business laws
Does it make sense now to change those laws in a major way?
True that some adjustment is needed to avoid excesses.
But each company report ( especially IPO's) comes with up to 5 pages of disclaimers which state that if this happens , or if that happens, the stock can turn into junk.
The term investment is overused, each equity is still a gamble
An unprecedented gain of nearly 1000 % in 17 years, which led investors to believe to only direction was up.
and created intense unhappiness when it did not happen.
And if one removes that bubble where the Dow doubled from 1995 to 2000 it is more logical to assume
that the Dow will drop further rather than recover.
