Someone help me with this whole energy thing PLEASE!

When this finally gets passed:

(It's a bill to basically repeal PUCHA, which restricts holding companies for energy utility providers power to consolodate businesses and diversify outside of energy...big news for W's buddies. Now they can go hog wild, 1999 telecom style with acquisitions)

COMMITTEE VOTES TO REPEAL
PUBLIC UTILITY HOLDING COMPANY ACT OF 1935

The Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs voted today, 19-1, to approve S.206, the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 2001.

The sent this to the House of Reps and it is currently under review by the finance comm.

frwebgate.access.gpo.gov

That committee is lead by:

Congressman Oxley is serving his tenth term in the House of Representatives and is Chairman of the new House Committee on Financial Services.

Who leads:

He leads 37 Republicans, 32 Democrats, and 1 Independent

And then it gets sent to Bush, who you know is going to pass it.

Then, won't companies like:

Duke Energy Co. DUK
Southern Co. SO
Dominion Resources, Inc. D

Buy smaller energy providers like:

FirstEnergy Corp. FE
FPL Group FPL

Am I on crack thinking that these guys are going to go on huge buying binges and then crash and burn in a few years?
