Wann_bmw, Re: Sounds like layoffs, IMO. Did Intel miss estimates? Was there an operating loss? Barrett said several months (a year?) ago that Intel's revenue were at levels not seen since '99 or so while the headcount had increased by 10,000-20,000. I don't know the exact numbers but if you do a search you'll probably find the quote. He suggested at that time that Intel would have to reduce headcounts if revenue levels didn't improve.
