There is an important background to that riot and massacre.

On August 15, 1929, members of the Betar youth movement demonstrated and raised a Zionist flag over the Wailing Wall. Israeli historian Simha Flapan notes that this was considered "a major provocation even in the eyes of Jewish public opinion." Betar was a youth movement in Jabotinsky's Revisionist organization. Flapan says this organization considered "Hitler the savior of Germany and Mussolini the political genius of the century". So, Betar could be likened to the Hitler Youth.

Incidentally, the Revisionist organization is the precursor to today's Likud party. And Betar is still going strong, now committing thuggery on a global scale:

And then there's this:

" Almost 400 residents of the Jewish quarter, however, were saved by their Arab neighbors."
