David, Ted was borrowing a line from Clinton's 1992 campaign. It might have been applicable back then, but not now with the rising threat of terrorism. That's what the "September 10th" joke was all about.

Personally, I am sure the economy will turn around, regardless of what any politician says or does. Unfortunately, I am also sure that terrorists will strike again and will continue to strike as long as we continue this nonsense called partisan politics. Or pretend that character doesn't count as long as we're all safe, fat, and rich.
