One interesting to watch for....if tech companies begin expensing options, you can be sure that within a quarter they will begin use it as a tool to smooth GAAP earnings. If the quarter is going badly, you simply slow-down the option handout allowing the company to make an extra penny or two. If the quarter is above par, simply hand out extra options and slow it down later in the year.
