Research ALERT-Morgan Stanley Starts Bed Bath & Beyond

NEW YORK, July 15 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley on Monday started coverage of Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY,Trade) with an "overweight" rating, citing the home goods retailer's growth potential.

The firm said it believes same-store sales growth could beat its own earlier forecast of 3 percent to 5 percent.

Morgan Stanley forecast long-term growth of 20 percent to 25 percent, driven by top-line growth of more than 20 percent.

The firm set a $40 price target on Bed Bath & Beyond shares, which closed Friday Nasdaq trade at $32.43.
