Are people buying the "Sony Studio" in large numbers? No. The point is that an excellent Photoshop workstation can be bought for about half the price of the $2800-3000 dual-CPU Apple model. With essentially the same performance.<<

A valid point. It is true that in terms of raw horsepower, the fastest PCs are (at least currently) faster than the fastest Macs. It's also true that this performance comes at a lower cost.

I agree that Apple really needs to address that performance gap if they want to widen their market significantly.

Interesting that most graphics people still prefer the Mac.

Graphics people prefer the Mac OS and that is a big difference. It's all about interface. That's a big reason for resistance to OSX. I'm hoping there will be a lot of positive improvements in Jaguar (a stationary trash can?).

On a positive note, I've found something about OSX that I really like, and does make a difference to me. I can boot an app in the background and continue with what I'm doing as it boots. Of course that has little to do with the interface problems.
