By changing the rules, you never have to fix real problem.

They ought to hold the CPA's accountable for their work on the books.

How on earth is a CEO suppose to know whether or not the accounting firm used appropriate accounting? Most CEO's aren't former accountants.

Maybe they just don't want to negatively impact campaign contributions from the CPA industry.
