It was the establishment of the "Jewish" State that caused the displacement. That fact was an act of war against the Palestinian people and the wider Arab world who were the majority culture in that land. You will note that the "Jews" in Isra-El do not wish to have the refugees return because it wuld change the nature of the State, a result they were after all along. It was there intention to remove the Arabs from Palestine, because they could not have a "Jewish" State with non-Jews in a majority. Arab Jews lost their land as a result of the actions of the Zionists and their supporters. They should be compensated as well.
