I haven't heard anyone except oil co's support MTBE...

The idea of clean-burning coal is stop-gap, since there's plenty of it, and technology can produce almost any result, depending on cost. Also, I recall WWII's invention of creating coal-conversion to relatively clean-burning fuels. The failure to capitalize on that so far is political failure, imo.

The critical issue is supporting the correct expectations: reduce emissions and reduce greenhouse gases. If you honestly set those expectations, nothing in the world can stop American ingenuity from providing that.

However, if short-sighted mossback profiteers only see next year's profits, they can sabotage those expectations, subvert legislation to make dirty environment more profitable, instead of challenging American engineers to make clean environment more profitable, such as HDWR.

I can't cleave to Republicans, since they clearly are stonewalling every attempt at profiting from clean environments. Besides the war profiteering, my criticisms are deceit of the American people, furthering of an all-powerful covert state, subversion of the Constitution, causing the death and destruction of Americans and the American way of life.

Other than that, I don't have much objection ... <vbg>
