Justify? Not isolated symbolic acts. Symbolic acts in combination with political machinations in Britain and elsewhere that successfully excluded the Palestinians from any discussion of the destiny of their land. This event was quite similar to Sharon's recent romp around the Temple Mount following Clinton/Barak telling Arafat to take his little scraps of land, OR ELSE! The big difference was that this time the Palestinians did not respond with violence. Unfortunately, their peaceful protests were met with lethal Israeli force. Tom
