I just don't understand hatred, I guess.

We went to see Tea House of the August Moon at dinner theatre a couple of years back with my in-laws and another couple of their generation. As you recall, the play dealt with McArthur's reconstruction of Japan after the war. Old Louie had fought the Japanese, and he didn't enjoy the play because of his memories. But he expressed no hatred.

What's the point? What does hatred add to the welfare of mankind?

I'm surprised to hear you say that about the UK. I thought it was a rather tolerant country, more so than our own.
