Israel is the only Middle eastern country where Arab women have the right to vote. Israel is the only Middle eastern country where Arabs can dissent without fear of torture or retribution. Israel is the only Democracy in the region. During the cold war, the Arab countries aligned with the Soviet Union, and several times refused to deliver oil to the United States. Israel was the sole ally of the US in the region, and their strong military presence prevented the Soviets from taking control of the world's richest oil fields. Is this helping you out at all?

Dear Craig: Well, I dont keep track of numbers the way you apparently do, but in all fairness more Palestians have been killed by ARABS then by Jews. I understand Jordan did in a number some years back as did Syria. The bottom line IMHO is the Palestinians have gotten the short end of the stick from EVERYONE in that area. Not sure why, the ones I see on T/V appear intelligent, yet the Group seem to be nothing more then Pawns in the hands of Iraq & Iran in their anti Jewish struggle. It seems SO CLEAR to me, that if only they agreed to get along with the Israeli's life could be SO GOOD for them. No reason I can see why they couldnt be just as successful in Palestine as the Israeli's have been in Israel. Especially if the Arab countries would support them a little for PEACE as much as they have supported them for WAR. jdn
