Very natural: A little financial disaster is good for gold and gold stocks, but too much is bad for gold stocks since they get taken out and shot like all stocks.

While you do not like Zardoz point, gold stocks got killed in October 1987. while bullion held up OK.

Silver is down almost 10 cents today, but I do not think this is "da bomb" you were expecting.
