share buybacks horribly destructive now, forced illiquidity
this is a big danger signal to me
on the surface it appears to support the stock price
but the result is lost capital streams within the companies

this issue will be revealed as stock option share price mgmt is discussed
invest in share price OR invest in company's profitability ???

I always like to take a practice toward its extreme, in order to analyze its efficacy
if firms far & wide bought back shares to the hilt, where would new product developmt go?
and plant & equipmt funding?
and worker training?
to hell, that is where
case in point: Maxim Integrated Products
they spent 35% of profits last year on share buyback
what is their future? nowhere
