And as your example shows, it isn't like many people weren't clued in. I was working at CSCO back in 1999 and I ended up at all of the big oil companies and for some reason a lot of the civilian gov't agencies. Without exception, they had all taken care of any Y2K remediation projects a year to two years before. They were all quite open about the fact that they were spending their Y2K remediation budgets on all of this new equipment. I always made it a point to ask specifically about their concerns about Y2K. There wasn't one customer that ever voiced any concern.
