I fell through the ice on a semi frozen pond too. I had big boots on and a big down jacket. I didn't come up under the ice, but what happened is that every time that I almost got up on the ice, it would break again. I did that about 8 times and finally didn't have anymore energy and was ready to give up. My brother was on the shore and he was just cracking up. I broke through about 6 feet from shore and worked my way to about 20 feet from shore. My brother finally yelled to me "TOM TURN AROUND!!!"

I swam into shore and it turned out that I could just put my feet down and touch bottom. But, the panic that hits with that cold water saps any good judgement.

I think that was more terrifying than my motorcycle accident.
