Yes, certainly true that there were many, many exceptions to the comments I made. What I said was, in general, true for the DOW, or stocks that behaved in general accordance with the DOW performance over the years.

The rest of the stocks, of which there are huge numbers, had different profiles over the years. Ideally, each stock should be watched periodically to make good buy and sell decisions.

That's what the mutual funds and institutions are supposed to do?<gg> And the brokerage houses have analysts to help the individual investor, and others, to make good decisions too - don't they?<gg>
