I used the Adkins diet a few years ago to lose enough weight to begin running. I haven't been "on" the diet in years but am always now concious of the things I learned while on the diet and from reading the book. The diet is neither the devil it's made out to be nor the miracle some say. It's a tool you can use, like the sand wedge in the golf bag, you don't want to play the whole game with it but it works well when used at the right time and in the right way. No, you probably won't run 40 miles a week while in Ketosis, at least I couldn't [craig, do you run 40 miles a week in the ketosis miracle state?]. In fact I don't know why you would want or need to, as others have said with this mileage you can eat what you want to within reason. But you do learn a lot about controling insulin levels in the body, and about metabolism of fats. DD
