The island has belonged to Spain since 1668, but is claimed by Morocco. There has been no Spanish presence on the island for the last 40 years.

Spanish forces removed six Moroccan soldiers from the island in a dawn operation Wednesday. By midmorning, a dozen Spanish soldiers had taken up defense positions along the island's periphery, as two soldiers patrolled the island and five warships circled nearby waters.

Spain took action after consulting with the U.N. Security Council and the country's allies, according to a statement from the office of Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar.

Chinu. This was not posted to me but you said....." Really!!! You really think that the US went into Afghanistan to free the Afghans from Taliban? If so, then what would you think the US motive would be to go into Afghnaistan if they did so before the WTC attack on 9/11? What would you call that then?".....

IMO if they had gone in there before Sept.11 I would call it an act of mercy to free those civilians that were being murdered, tortured, raped, dismembered, executed for sport in public arenas by muslim/islamist/terrorists. Of course then people like you would be bitching that the USA is interfering in another countries internal affairs. Right?

You said...." Ask an Afghani today and see what they say."....

How do you know what they may say? have you asked?

You said....." All the freedoms you mentioned are also available to the democracy folks in the US also. But they have the added assurance that they will not be suddenly bombed from above by their own friends.".....

Anything like that that may happen would be an accident and you know this. It is surprising at times the things you say when your temper gets out of control.
How many years now has the USA & Britain been protecting innocent civilians in Iraq from overhead bombing or just being outright murdered by their own government? Is the USA correct in doing this? Are they interfering in the internal affairs of saddam. Should the USA just leave and say to hell with them it's not our problem?
