relax, i'm not your enemy. there is room for both.

Everyone but his fellow brownshirts is his enemy and there is no room for anyone not like him.

BTW, why don't you start a diet debate thread and move the argument over there?

>> the article was clear that ketones are a secondary source of brain fuel. what is the primary source? i know... ;-) <<

we have also been over this before. this is just a rehash. i told you to go read up on the concept of gluconeogenesis. i admit that your brain does use glucose as a primary fuel, you are just mistaken if you think that the glucose must come from carbs! your body can synthesize glucose from protein. i told you that your body does not need ANY carbs to function properly. on the other hand, without fat or protein you will die.

you call that 'inefficient', i call that the reason why i can eat more than the zone allowed amount of 1.4g/protein per kg of weight (or whatever figure you cited). some of the excess protein eaten during the most restrictive phases of the atkins diet is synthesized as fuel for the brain. excess fat is burned as fuel for the brain (ketones) and is released in the urine, breath, sweat, etc. as ketones.

eat excess carbs and you won't burn them as fuel in your brain, they won't come out in bodily excretions like ketones, they will fill up your liver and your muscles and anything left over after that will be converted to fat!
