Offshore Logistics, Inc. Confirms North Sea Accident LAFAYETTE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2002--Bristow Helicopters, an affiliate of Offshore Logistics, Inc. (NASDAQ:OLOG - News), confirms that 5 people have died and 6 are missing as a result of the accident yesterday involving a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter operating in the Leman Field, in the Southern North Sea, approximately 50 miles north of Lowestoft, East Anglia, England. The aircraft, with 2 crew and 9 passengers, was making a routine flight from the Clipper platform to the Santa Fe Monarch drilling rig, a distance of approximately 25 miles. As it approached the rig at 1945 hours, the aircraft ditched into the sea. The aircraft was operating for Shell U.K. Exploration and Production. Bristow has launched its own investigation and will be working closely with Shell to establish the cause of the accident and will be giving the Air Accident Investigation Branch its fullest cooperation. Safety is our highest priority and we have full confidence in the robust safety regime applied to aircraft and to operations. The cause of this tragedy is not known at this time and until a full investigation is completed it would be inappropriate to speculate on possible causes.
