Well bless her heart! It's hard for adults to handle, it's unimaginable for kids.

We just got home, Lil' Missy hasn't asked. We'll all sit down after supper tonight and talk about it.

I know when we go to bed at night, as a ritual, we go around the house checking all the doors and windows as well as making sure the alarm is set. We've got one dog up stairs and another down stairs.

It's a tough world that's not getting any easier.

<<Now this, and less than 15 miles from us.>>

About 25 years ago we came back from Canada at night and all the houses were lit up. The next day we found out that a woman, her 3 daughters and the family dog had been killed with an ax 2 blocks away. Her husband had done the deed but it was months before he was arrested. He had hit the big time and wanted to go skirt chasing but their religion forbade divorce. Nothing like a murder close to home to be unsettling. Nothing like a shotgun and a dog to let you sleep soundly.

Everyone of you should be frightened out of your wits...You should organize a tight neighborhood watch!

That and the whole situation is so very sad!! Have you....
.
asked her what would she have you both do that would help her? Maybe a night light? She may be able to suggest something herself that would help....

This story just brought out again what a perilous time we are living in! Are the police in your area doing extra drive bys? Or maybe the neighbors could take turns doing that....

Sammantha looks so very much like our granddaughter it is uncanny!

Prayers come with this to all of you!
