Zonealarm permission request box has an option "don't show this box again" so if you are giving permission to something you'd like to use only on a temporary basis, you can leave this box unchecked and ZA will ask permission every time. One thing I do for mystery requests is click No and leave the don't ask box unchecked so that if I am disabling something I need, the next time I reboot I will see the request again. If I say no a few times and my computer doesn't melt down <g> I may click no and check the don't show box.

Agree on the outbound stuff. Now that I have a NAT firewall, the only thing ZA intercepts is outbound ping responses to my email server and one or two other sites. Their not getting these pings back hasn't caused me any problems, so I am happy with my security setup. Doesn't mean a hacker won't find a way in, but since the majority of them used somebody else's canned port scanners, they are going to be a lot more likely to give up on me and move on to those juicy opportunities that exist where people have a box on cable and NO firewall.
